RANDOM ANIMAL GENERATOR

Sources & Methodology

How animal records, source links, Canadian labels and random selection are handled.

Dataset approach

Each record stores a common and scientific name, group, habitats, diet, typical range, Canadian occurrence note, conservation status, short fact and source starting points. The dataset is intentionally curated rather than exhaustive.

Randomization

Filters create an eligible local pool. A Fisher–Yates shuffle reorders that pool using the browser’s random number generator, and the requested number of records is taken from the shuffled result. It is useful for prompts and discovery—not scientific sampling.

Updates and corrections

Conservation and distribution information can change. Before publishing an update, the owner should compare the proposed change with a current, reputable source and record the source URL. Important decisions should always be checked at the original source.
