This website exists to make animal discovery quick, enjoyable and useful. It is an independent tool, not a government agency, zoo, university or conservation organization.
What we aim to do
The generator combines a lightweight local dataset with clear filters. It can help a teacher start a discussion, give an artist a drawing subject, or introduce a reader to an unfamiliar species. The information is concise by design and should be treated as a starting point.
What we do not claim
Results are random within the eligible local dataset, not scientifically representative of wildlife abundance or biodiversity. We do not publish invented awards, user counts, partnerships or expert endorsements.
Our Canadian focus
Canadian wildlife receives meaningful representation, while the broader dataset covers animals from around the world. Canadian occurrence is described carefully because species distributions vary across provinces, territories, coasts and seasons.
